Javier Garcia Vicente is a Spanish musician, bass player, guitarist, singer and composer. Born in Madrid, learned to play guitar in Santiago de Compostela and electric bass in Madrid and Alicante. He lived 10 years in London playing bass in the U.K. Blues scene with bands such Dana Gillespie (1998-2002) and later with Matt Schofield (2009-2010) He recorded two solo albums (Troubagroove and Tales of a Solitary Tree). Also makes music for film and documentaries. The Mix (2003) and in The Netherlands for KRO (Gezelig naar Marokko, Wij zijn Geschiedenis) and Meat the Truth (2007)Javier lives in Veenendaal since 2024. He plays bass with Savannah and Dick van Altena and Downtown Grooves. Also playing guitar, bass and singing with quartet Bluebird Café. Javier is performing as TROUBAGROOVE playing Spanish guitar and singing music ranging from Spanish to South American: Rumba catalana, Bossa-Nova, Boleros, Son, Salsa, Rancheras, Ballads, Latin-Blues and some well known traditional Jazz tunes.

DOWNTOWN GROOVES SMALL BIO
Downtown Grooves is a Funk-jazz-Blues trio formed in 2021 during Corona times.
Erik Dekker on drums, Eric van de Bovenkamp on piano and Javier Garcia Vicente on bass, guitar and vocals. Erik Dekker started drumming in his childhood with a drum band as a tambour. There he learned the basics (rudiments) on the snare drum. At the age of 10 he got his first drum kit and after a few years he played in his first band. Over the years he has played in various bands from Fusion, Funk, Soul to Pop/Rock. He is currently playing with local Big Bands (Jalafusy, Sound of Science) and Chilla Collective.
Jerome van Rossum substitutes Eric van de Bovenkamp on keyboards. Jerome was active in the New York Latin and ‘acid jazz’ music scenes in the 1990s, playing with numerous salsa bands and jazzfunk outfits. He eventually creating his own 8-piece ‘Orquesta Mata Buena’ with which he played at NY’s nightclubs, the Vermont Jazz Festival and Amsterdam’s Bimhuis. He was musical director at a Latin theater company creating the off-Broadway show “Tropical” (the history of Latin music). Jerome now lives in Ede, developing various musical projects in the recording studio of Amigos International Entertainment. Next month, he will present his original funk-jazz-pop music at Sundays Live at Erica (Apri 19th).
Now Javier lives in Bennekom since 2010 and has recorded two solo albums (Troubagroove and Tales of a Solitary Tree) and it’s currently playing bass with Savannah, Dick van Altena, Bluebird café and of course Downtown Grooves.
